About Convenerra4

Convenerra4 sits at the heart of the Home Front Museum initiative: a space where local heritage, wartime Britain, and community remembrance meet. We focus on interpretation that speaks to both the head and the heart—preserving stories, objects, and voices so that future generations can understand what life was like on the home front.

Our work spans exhibitions, education, and digital archives, with a strong emphasis on authenticity and accessibility. Whether you are a school group, a researcher, or a visitor with a personal connection to the period, we aim to offer something meaningful.

Exhibition Highlights

Our exhibitions draw on authentic artefacts, personal testimonies, and carefully researched narratives to present the home front experience in a way that feels both informative and human. Themes include daily life, rationing, civil defence, and the contributions of ordinary people across the UK.

Displays are designed to suit mixed audiences—from families to academic researchers—with clear labelling and optional deeper reading. We work closely with local historians and community contributors to ensure that regional stories are represented.

Educational Programmes

Schools and colleges are central to our mission. We offer structured sessions that tie into the national curriculum and local history topics, using primary sources, object handling, and discussion to bring the period to life. Sessions can be tailored to key stages and include themes such as evacuation, the Blitz, and life on the home front.

Workshops take place in our learning spaces and, where appropriate, link to our digital archive so that pupils can explore documents and images in a supported environment. We also provide resources for teachers to use in the classroom.

Digital Archive Experience

Our digital archive makes selected holdings accessible online: photographs, letters, official documents, and oral history clips. The interface is built for both casual browsing and focused research, with search, filters, and clear citations. Where possible, we provide context so that items are understood within the wider story of wartime Britain.

The archive is regularly updated as new material is catalogued and digitised. It complements our physical exhibitions and supports remote learning and family history research.

Community Stories

Local voices are at the core of Convenerra4. We collect and share stories from individuals and families whose lives were shaped by the war—whether through service, evacuation, work on the land, or simply getting by at home. These narratives add depth and nuance to the broader history we present.

We work with community groups, reminiscence projects, and volunteers to record and interpret these accounts. If you have a story or family material you would like to contribute, we would be glad to hear from you.
